These units can be expensive though, so you will need to weigh your options here carefully. If you are looking for a large workspace, a good option is a large pine table. A large table will give you all of the workspace that you will need and you can use the back of the table by putting magazine racks or file folders along the back to increase organization space. Some people may not like the idea of working from a large table but whatever works best in your home office is what you should use.
Many people do not give the desk that they use in their home office much thought. They may even use a table from another room to provide the necessary surface for their computer and other equipment. But, there are very few people who are the height that makes working at a table effective or comfortable. An individual who is working on a surface that is the wrong height will soon notice that they ache. If they are doing a lot of computer work they may notice that their hands hurt and their neck aches by the end of the day. The proper desk will alleviate those problems very quickly.
If you have more space, ergonomic shaped desks such as single wave, double wave and radial - or crescent – desks provide a stylish office look with plenty of desk area. Desk sizes usually vary between 600mm to 1000mm deep and are available in widths between 800mm and 2000mm. If standard under desk pedestal drawers are to be used, 1400mm wide desks are the minimum I would recommend to provide adequate leg room. If narrow pedestals are to be used, 1200mm wide desks are the minimum width I would recommend.
The first thing that you must do is evaluate your needs. Do you simply need a desk to hold your computer, or will you need a space to layout multiple pages and other items? Look at how much office equipment you have. Do you have a computer, printer, fax, phone, photocopier, scanner and more? Or perhaps you simply have a laptop and nothing more? This will be the first major deciding factor - how much desk space do you actually need? It is also important to look at the space where you will be putting your desk. Is your office large, and able to accommodate a large desk? Or do you need to squeeze into a tiny area? It is a good idea to take measurements before you go out shopping, because this will save you a lot of time in the long run.
