Persons who must stand or work at counter height may prefer a chair that is at a stool height. These chairs offer back support that is not found in a stool. They often have a foot support that is in the shape of a ring circling the chair. These chairs offer relief from standing all day long, but still allow you to complete your work effectively.
Some of the newer office chairs available have a mesh back and or seat to allow for airflow. Others are made of a molded plastic with ventilation holes. Of course, there are still the traditional office chairs available with either cloth or leather covers. Cloth covers are less likely to cause problems with perspiration, although leather covers are easier to keep clean.
Wheels or Casters. Every part of your conference room chair can be considered to be important to you success in optimization, all the way down to the wheels or sometimes called casters. When someone is talking or commanding attention naturally you would want to turn your body, chair included, to face that individual. Having wheels which are durable yet easily movable will help to move to different positions throughout the room, as well.
Exercise Ball Seating. The basic principle behind an exercise ball chair is that it forces you to maintain good posture, therefore alleviating stress on your back, shoulder and arm muscles. Also, because you're holding proper posture and engaging your core muscles to stay erect, you actually also benefit from an all-day abdominal workout. However, sitting too long on an exercise ball can cause fatigue in your legs. And if you're a committed sloucher, you may still find ways to slouch over, therefore pulling on your lower back and causing significant muscle stress.
