Deciding what the main task that will be performed at the desk is, and how long a person will be spending in the area each day is important to selecting the desk that is needed. A person who will not be typing on a computer for much of their day will need a desk that is a different height than an individual who will spend their entire day typing on their computer.
The materials used for your desks are largely a personal choice, influenced by the look you wish to achieve. Laminate desks finishes are usually slightly more expensive and offer some additional colour choices. Solid wood desks tend to be very expensive and are usually reserved for executive offices. A cheaper alternative is a wood veneer desk – a cheaper material, such as chipboard, with a very thin layer of real wood applied.
